City approaches or further west
For Eastern Avenue or Western Avenue, provide a map position and whether you are on the main carriageway, slip road or a nearby parking area. If you are on the A48 towards Cowbridge, say so explicitly. A reference to Cardiff alone can leave a large search area and an unsuitable approach.
Location before diagnosis
Describe where the vehicle has stopped and whether it is exposed to passing traffic before explaining the fault. Where there is immediate danger, call 999 first. A car in a lay-by, a retail car park and a live lane require different responses; do not move into traffic to check the wheels or take photographs.
Suitable loading and a ready destination
Once safe, tell us the vehicle make and model, any damaged wheels and how it stopped. If it does not run and drive, explain what you know about rolling movement and transmission release. Give the garage or delivery postcode so price and availability can be checked for both the roadside collection and the onward trip.
Your questions, answered.
What if I only know I am on the A48?
Share a map location from a safe place, your direction and the last junction or nearby signed destination. The team can use those details to clarify the position.
Can you take the vehicle to my chosen garage?
You can request that destination. Confirm the garage can accept the vehicle and provide its full address or postcode.
